When do you need the donations by?

about the rooting, my view is it should be in line with th character and compliment, not be added for sake of adding. Therefore if character calls for being bald then leave bald as rooted would detract from the overall finished effect. Likewise if it needs a certain look and you cannot root that look yet a wig will get it then wig the character accordingly.

I would say by October. That would give me time to get everything displayed and organized into a nice basket for the winner.

P.S. Well said Lyn! Since it is a character contest you need to do whatever hair (or no hair lol) suits your chosen character.

Thanks for the clarification, even though I'm planning to root my character...if I can get the hang of rooting by then!

Lyn, Thanks for clarifying that. I'm with you.. it's a character contest, so I think we need to judge it for the character, originality, etc.. Have we decided how many photos and which ones?

HI all.. I haven't been on much lately.. been moving into my mom's house to help her out and then I'm setting up for a garage sale.. busy! Anyway, if you send items for the prize basket you can still send to old address (it's just two houses down) or new address at 6235 E Falmouth Road, Falmouth MI 49632.

I think two photos is enough, but would like to see a third just for fun where you can choose your own to submit. Full shot, head shot and then your choice for third photo.

If rooting is going to be one of the factors, should there be 4 pictures: Full shot, head shot, hair shot, one of artists' choosing?

I don't think rooting should be a factor in this contest as was mentioned some character babies may be bald, some may need so much hair its not quite possible to root, etc.

Okay good. It was mentioned that rooting would be part of the final factor as far as determining the winner by their reborning skills. That takes some pressure off the newbies like me!

I updated the first post in this thread. My name and address for donated prizes. What photos and info to submit for each entry. Also, listed there are the names of whom to submit the photos to per category, the names of the 7 judges for the final round, etc.
If I am missing any necessary information please let me know.

After I did one of my Olivers up as "Legolas" from LOTR, I decided the few Olivers that I'm going to reborn myself for next summer's Down East show I'm going to do as a "character"! So, I'll have a bunch!!!! But alas, with my schedule, I'll probably only have one to enter for the contest! LOL

OK so Lorrie told me to ask....I'm "hoping" to enter but they are a twosome. And I'm not sure but I think they should go in Classic Fairytale. Who is in charge of that category? Are you participating? and Can I ask you? hee hee

Sarah(Poppy) is in charge of that category and is not entering. I am not entering in the Classic Fairytale category so you can ask me.

I really would LOVE this tutorial. I'm not sure if I'll be entering the baby I want this info for, because it's a secondary idea...but I would love the tutorial because I will use it regardless if I can enter this baby or not.

I just finished taking all the pics and did the write up now if the universe co operates and let's me get some work done this afternoon I should have it up on my site soon.

I've got a question about submission...when it's time to submit photos, I know for myself I'd like to say a few things about my baby's costume, props, etc. Will we be allowed to put a little write up about our baby in with the pictures? I think it would be good to know who created the costume/props/etc. for each baby, whether it was the entrant themself or if they commissioned someone to do it and what was involved in the process. Or is all that too much information and we should just let the pictures speak for themselves?

with most competitions Rachel we let the pictures speak for themselves.

I don't think the judges will judge differently if the costumes and props were handmade by the reborn artist or not. I think a good camera definately helps and clearer pics make your babies looks so much better.

I think maybe after the judging we can all tell each other more about our character babies as we'll all be interested!

I'm part of a Star Wars costuming group, The Rebel Legion, where the costumes have to be judged in order to be accepted into the group (so we don't get people wearing a bathrobe and claiming to be a Jedi). I'm one of the costume judges for the group, so I like reading about costume details and how something was constructed. It's much easier for me to judge a costume when I know what went into it's creation. I guess that translated over to this...I have to get out of "Rebel Legion" mode and into "Reborn" mode!

I'm making a post so I'll get the notices of when people add something. I had almost forgotten about this because I didn't post when I first saw it. Although I did narrow down the character to about three and I knew I had what I needed to do it, but then I got so busy with the Paris workshop.

I'm trying to think if I can paint a doll, root one and get a costume done in 27 days - hum - it's not impossible, unless we take off for a week - which depends on the weather.

Is there anyone else who is planning on entering and hasn't really started?

I'll be looking forward to seeing all the pictures and I'm trying to think of a basket donation.

Lyndie, I haven't really started much, although I do have my costume, I have far more to do with the actual vinyl itself and that I haven't even begun to do.

Okay - I may attempt this - but I have to decide on a character - find more images for inspiration and decide what category it fits into - but I think I'll wash a few kits - while I'm deciding.

I've finished my sewing from the Paris Workshop and have them in their boxes and weight - I just need to get hubby to make labels - but the Post Office doesn't open until Tuesday Morning - so I can play dollies for a bit.

I do have about a day and a half of sewing for my dress and two extras - but I can do part will the doll warms and cools.

Can you tell, I'm trying to talk myself into this?

If that doesn't work, I'll come back here and delete what I've written now and ask the question here.

I started almost right away working on my doll's costume, but I just got the painting on my doll done last week. Now, I need to root. I'm new to this, so I hope it doesn't look horrible and I sure hope I can finish the rooting on time!

Sorry I haven't been on in awhile... still settling in at my mom's... I should receive donations no later than October 1, so I can organize the basket..etc... I will post my address here again... doesn't hurt to post it again :)

How fast can you work?! The deadline is October 1st.

I may not make it into this contest, but I will send my contribution to the prize this week. My entry has spent the summer at the bottom of my priority list and I'm not going to rush now to get it done. I'll show it off if/when I do finish it. I'm still not sure if it's going to turn out right. I can't wait to see all the other entries!
