2012 REAL Christmas Baby Swap!

I had the same thing happen, I bought my kit and then the next week it was on sale for 19.98!!! DOH!!! Oh well, I have started painting and hope to get lots more done this week. I haven't even figured out the outfits yet!!! Gotta see if it is going to be a boy or a girl first!! LOL

I am not a procrastinator....so My partners baby will have to stay in my nurser until its time to ship. Ive got it all finished up!!~ YAY. Now just to get outfits, and pictures and Im all set.

Gosh, once again I am going to say Howe jealous I am Tina lol it takes me forever to do hair!!!

GAWD, Tina, I was just gonna say how pleased I am that I have finished painting my kit save for the brows and nail tips....and you are finished ???!!!???? You are a reborning machine LOL!!!

Tina, I really don't think anyone procrastinated....at least not yet......but you are on over drive lately with baby productions! LOL I would be too if mine turned out as beautifully as your's have been.

NOW Don't forget where you put it! That would be my luck. I would put it up safely and in two months when we mail out I wouldn't be able to find it because it would be SAFE! LOL

Started my baby's hair today ;)

Ladies! Ladies! you're all going gangbusters! lol! I'm just getting down to the fine details on mine and hopefully to the rooting this weekend. But I am still so darned nervous that I bought a back up kit!!! Which I am hoping that I will be able to use for something else! LOL

I love hearing about everyone's progress!!!

My kit arrived yesterday and I started it today during Carolyn Duff's and my "dolly Tuesdays at Joy's". I must admit the kit is adorable! I should be finished with her painting by the weekend and then onto rooting!
I sure hope my swap partner is done with morning sickness by now! LOL

Well now I've had my kit for a while but just can't seem to find the time to paint yet but I will lol..once I finish my two projects then will be swap baby time ...painting then rooting or was that rooting then painting lol... oh I know its painting then rooting just testing to see if your listening lol..... Whoo hoo! Working on my babies hair while my husband watches football :) about 1/4 finished the hair. When I hit the half way mark, it will all be down hill from there :) can't wait for this little one to be finished. I am so excited to see baby together! I'm catching up Tina lol

I started the hair on my baby today....and from someone who waited till the nite before to write essays in university, that's a BIG deal LOL!!!!!

So Im curious, how many of you are going to stick to a Christmas themed layette? Or just regular clothes. I had my babies layette planned, but now I'm not sure which way to go. Lol

I'm not in the swap but last year, I gave one Christmas outfit and the rest were regular clothing.

What Karen said.... I do plan on doing one, maybe 2 Christmas outfits and the others will be regular... I already have one of my outfits.... Sooooo excited about that!!!

I am thinking a combination layette. Definitely one or so Christmas outfits and then a couple of things that can go anytime. Are we going all out on layettes? I thought I read somewhere that we had to keep the layette very small and simple. I just would like clarification please.?

I am nearly finished with the painting! She may have to stay here and her mama will have to just enjoy pictures! roflmbo!

I was thinking mostly regular as well with just a bit of Christmas stuff for fun. :) I'm about half rooted finally, had to take a break and work on a tiny sculpted baby who is finally nearing completion. :) Don't know how I'm going to wait till Dec!

I just got one tonight and another is on it's way... I suppose that means I am close to finished with that! Now if I could only say the same for the baby. lol... She is well on her way tho... now, if only she was a baldie....

Haha I keep seeing different outfits that I think will go well with my baby. I got about 4 here lol. Not sure what to choose since most mommies redress their babies in outfits they buy? I guess that's why it's good that our limit is 1to2 outfits :)

I SOOOOO need the eyebrow fairy to come back! Our temperature has dropped and we had a freeze last night. I think the eyebrow fairy high tailed it South to some warmer weather!
She has to come back......or the Christmas Baby won't get finished until May! LOL

Well then, I sure wish I lived in the south! Chilly here in NY too... and I could use a visit from her! Because I am doing eyebrows today and they really freak me out! glad I have a dummy head to practice on... ya know, the baby I put the caterpillars on for eyebrows ... I stripped them and it has become my practice dummy.... so there are no more kinda eyebrows!!!

I'm rooting first and saving my absolute least favourite part....the eyebrows...till the end!!!! I'm about 1/3 inished the rooting!!!

Well.... It has taken me all day... and I have ONE eyebrow on! But to be fair, it was after a layer of flesh and carving pumpkins... so OK not an entire day... but it sure feels like it! Taking a break and hoping number 2 goes on... um even... lol

The south isn't much warmer. Had to put my heat on yesterday when I got home from the workshop. Still have it on.

My love for doing eyebrows depends on what kit I do. This kit was fairly easy to paint the eyebrows, but some kits, especially the ones like Taite or ones with furrowed eyebrows are hard to do

Good news is, I found my babies Christmas outfit!!!

Well you can all feel sorry for me ... I've been stuck in an RV park in Monterey, Ca for 2 days now with a dead truck. *sigh* Our daughter's are coming down today to rescue us and haul the trailer home, then Howard has to drive the 200+ miles back down on Friday to pay for it (they est. about $3-4,000) and drive it home.

I'd love to be home working on my baby instead of stranded here!

On the upside, the wedding was gorgeous and we had a wonderful time at that. And at least this time we're not stranded on the side of the road! LOL

lol I haven't even gotten to eyebrows yet... I'm having issues figuring out how I want to do this hair line... Got my painting done and about 1/3 of the rooting... I drive myself nuts over hairlines though...

I did a Liu-San a while back and totally forgot her eyebrows... I took picture and got ready to put up her auction, everyone who'd seen her (about 15 people) thought she was perfection... not one person noticed she didn't have eyebrows... then I got ready to put her auction up and noticed in ONE picture you could tell she didn't have any...

I haven't even started on layette... I have a few things I'm pondering but not sure if this little one will be a boy or a girl yet... need to finish that hairline!!! ;)

Definitely not behind! I too am rooting hair... it's been days! But, I haven't been at it steadily! I finally got those pesky eyebrows done and I am pleased with them! Hope my giftee is too!!!

Yeah I agree lol. I will not rush on any baby. It's taken me a few weeks on this baby's hair and I am only halfway finished. I love swaps but always worry about time since I'm so slow. Thank god we have a few months.

My little one is complete....not sure if Ive already said that....lol but if not, I just did. Needed to make sure he/she was finished, as my surgery is tomorrow.....and now I dont need to worry.

Well I am probably the furthest behind....lol.....I am a still painting and havent started rooting yet....I would probably be further along but i am doing 2 and I am also working on 6 customs....so I am working on my swap babies on the weekends.

I will be finished on time, I have no worries....I know they will be finished.....just probably not as soon as everyone else! lol

Joy, for pictures just one or two to show progress so I know we're all on track.

And Sarah, you're not the furthest behind because I'm still painting also. I have the next 4 days without kids!! So I hope to make great strides in painting and rooting!

I'll be sending out the group email and even though some of you have posted your progress here, please email your pictures and progress report to me. It's a huge help to me to have everything in one place!

Tina, I hope your surgery went wonderfully well, and that your recovery is very quick!!!

How is everyone else coming along???

So excited to finally say that I just finished my baby's hair. Waiting for glue to dry in head then, I get to put baby together! This is the part that I get excited about. I cant wait to see my swap partners baby officially put together!

Despite my broken leg I have been able to get a few more layers on my swap baby. Oh I am really starting to love it!! A few more layers and details and baby will be ready for hair!! Sharon, when I get back out to the living room where my baby is I will send you the pics!! I am stuck in a wheelchair but I don't move around when hubby isn't here as it just isn't safe. I can't put any weight on my foot, so it is a pain.

Kerri, you just take care of your leg and don't stress about pictures!

I know what it's like to be stuck without help. When I had my knees done, my darling hubby had to take an extra few days off because I simply couldn't get out of my recliner without help. We were getting a bit stressed about it until we used our living room to help me! We have about a 6" step down into our living room, so we just put my recliner on the upper level, right at the edge and it made it possible for me to get up without help or having to bend my knees too much!



And I have to say that all the babies are just beautiful! I've even found a few new favorites of my own!
