| Feel free to ship me your laundry. I could at least do it up and UPS it back to you in short order! Of course you would have to keep out enough to wear in the meantime since it is to cold up there to go au nautrale! Please do not ship me the kids, though. I love kids dearly, but right now have hands full with 92 year old Mom for another week! Seriously, you are in our prayers. It is so scary when hubby is down for the count. It is such a lonely feeling because nothing or nobody can really help you through it. (Been there, done that). And the laundry offer still stands, Lara We are here to support you. you are the best! | Lara honey if we were just a bit closer you bet I'd take the kids! And, I'd cook a few good meals too. But since I'm not I guess prayers will have to do...I'm sorry.
when Tom was about John's age he had a ton of drywall fall on his knee. He was in the hospital for more than a week, and had surgery too. Our oldest was 14 and our youngest at the time was 7 months and still nursing full time. I remember how all of a sudden I realized how much I depended on Tom for the silliest of things. LIke getting certain pans down from a high cupboard to use for garlic bread, and how much he really DID help with the little ones even though sometimes it sure seemed he was more work than they were! I have always looked back on that time as a special gift from God to me. Although Tom and I have been together since we were 14, until that couple of weeks I hadn't realized how much I loved him, depended on him for things, and how grateful I was that he was actually OK. I won't say that I haven't taken him for granted since, because of course I have. But I still remember that lesson that happened 30 years ago. AND that happened on the first day of a 4 day weekend also! We were going to finish the family room addition, that is why the drywall was there. We have tended to not make any plans for anything since then! We just lived more spontaneously! lol
Tom is also convinced that as long as he doesn't own any pajamas he will never have to go to the hospital. See my mom gave him a pair of jammies for Christmas and by George he would end up in the hospital during the next year and need the jammies! So his theory has always been that if he doesn't own jammies he will never end up in the hospital! When he had his knee replacement last summer he refused to buy jammies.....all he took with him were his gym shorts! LOL
John will be home soon, and Praise God we live NOW instead of a century ago when antibiotics had not been discovered yet! John would be dead now.

We are here to support you. you are the best! Audrey How about I just ship my 17 year old? You really won't even know he is there. He just shows up to eat, then disappears again. Maybe you could train him to do laudry while he is there! lol... As for laudry I have about 1-2 loads everyday. It's impossible to keep up with as it is. I have a mountain about as high as my 5 year olds and as just as wide in the laudry room at all times. Washer always has something in it, as does the dryer, which make sit impossible to get the kids (meaning the older boys) to do their own because it's never empty for them. I hate laudry...hate hate hate it! I don't mind doing everyones dishes and vacumming the dog ahir daily, but the laudry....well, it just makes me scream everyday. I have no idea what I will come home to when I go away to CA by myself.

| Agggh I hate laundry too, we have so much of it every day and I only have two little ones! Emily goes through about 5 outfits a day and Taylor pukes all over his so he's about the same, then there is hubby's work clothes that get dirty from building every day too, it just never ends - I could imagine you probably have more than we do too. I wish I could help in some way too, have been thinking of you all though and I hope John can get better real soon and be back with you and your kids as soon as possible - take care and keep us updated | |

| I guess I've got it good with just 4 loads of laundry a week. I do two loads twice a week. I don't mind the washing and the drying but I can't stand folding! When I rebel against folding, I have Rob's mom do it. She can sit on her duff and do it | |

I hope all is going well with your hubby Lara, and that they start to feed the poor man soon!

| Well if this turns serious - I'll drive up. I love to cook and iron, like laundry, but I do not like vacuuming and I HATE dusting. I will brush the dog daily and take for walks. I'll bring puppets, books, dolls and airplanes for the kiddies and rock music for the big boys on my laptop.
My favorite way of dealing with a meal is to tell them they are having liver and canned peas for dinner - you can imagine that if your next offer is homemade Mac and cheese with bacon, with frozen peas, it is readily accepted, especially with a fresh apple cake as dessert.
I pray hubby is healing. Hungry is okay when you know that there really is a next meal sometime soon. Ask him if he would like me to make my homemade mac and cheese with bacon and freeze for when you are here? I bet a Saltine cracker could get him drooling about now and he is a slim guy!

Sure sometimes there are NO answers and they can't figure out what is wrong but they still need to COMMUNICATE with the WHOLE family!
Okay on helping and laundry............Laura do you have a pick up service for laundry in your town? Or a laundramat where you can drop it off and they will do it and fold it for you??? I will happily donate to getting it ALL done up for you? What do you ladies thing? We can't be there in person but we can sure do this if it's available!

| Well, John was able to have broth and jello last night! He was very happy!!! The are going to do another CT scan Monday or Tuesday and see if everything has calmed down. If it has then, they will determine the next step at that point. I came home last nught at 9:30...so tired. I forgot that I had left 2 loads of unfolded laudry on my bed....so I was about to pick it all up and throw it on the florr, when...what do I see? Ah, our dog Maci must be mad and left a nice puddle on my carpet in the bedroom. She must have been mad that no one was home last night. I was very copmplexed though, as I put her out before I left and when I came back. Then she woke me up again at 11:30 wanting to go out. My first thought was oh, no, doggy has a bladder infection, but she is fine this morning. Guess I better make sure to close all the bedroom dorrs when I go out today.
I did put that laudry in a corner, so I better go start folding before church.
I'll give you all an update tonight. Clinically he is getting better, so that is good. We had fun watching the Steeler game last night together. He is a big BIG Steeler fan...well, who in Pittsburgh isn't right?
Oh, and quick up date on the contest...this is the BIGGEST contest ever. I am sure we have 20 entries. I haven't counted them all, but there are a lot! Isn't that exciting? And they are all beautiful!!!

| Glad to hear that John is getting so called "food"..tomato soup???? good Lord! I have never in my life heard of giving a patient tomato soup for breakfast! YUCK!!!! No wonder people get short term dementia while in the hospital! LOL
As for the laundry....we had a schedule when the kids were all home...and it worked immensely well. Each kid had a day they could their laundry. ONLY that day. Only exception was if they had a job and only one or two uniforms then we negotiated. But they had from midnight to midnight to get their clothes in and out of the laundry room, if they left any in, I confiscated it and it went back to their room regardless of the shape....only took once or twice and we didn't have any mistakes. I also had a day for our laundry and I made my rule stick fro me too....it was good discipline!
they all have houses and families and mortgages now and they still do it that way at their homes.
When they were all little everyone wore cloth diapers so I had 3 loads of clothesw a day plus one of diapers....every day of the week unless stomach flu went around....then all bets were off....god I hate stomach flu!
Ok.....so sounds like Maci is grieving John. Giveher some of his dirty clothes to snuggle with...it will really help.
I will gladly donate to the "Catch up on Lara's Laundry" fund! Let me know where and how much and when.

| I thought it was great news that John had tomato soup for breakfast too. Food is Good. I thought that sounded so good I had tomato soup for breakfast - but I added a toasted cheese sandwich, on whole wheat bread and 4 ounces of milk. Hubby thought that sounded so good - he had the almost the same thing for lunch.
Tomato soup is easily digestible and I'll bet he had a selection of foods. I remember being offered apple juice after a tonsillectomy in 1967 and I chose tomato juice - well it was pretty acidic on my throat - but I did learn a lesson - take what you are offered.

| You guys are all so great checking in and keeping John in your prayers...I just want to thank each and every one of you!! This is truly the most wonderful and loving group I have ever had the privilege of being a part of. I feel so blessed to know each and every one of you!!!! John is having his CT scan tomorrow (Monday) at 9. If it looks good, they will feed him lunch and let him come home and finish antibiotics by mouth and he will then see the GI Dr to figure out the next step. So, today, I did good. I went to church, did 2 loads of laundry, put one away, went to the hospital twice, organized all the pictures for the AA Contest, cooked chicken alfredo for dinner for everyone, and chipped all the ice away from the front walk. I did good today... John did better, but I felt liek I got something done, at least, and it wasn't a total wash. | |

The emoicon I put next is 'Love You' and that is true, but I thought it was Group hug - Hey I'm old and it works for me, Happy Monday to you - I do believe you could add water to dry dog food and heat it up and John would be thrilled - but I'd try canned chicken soup!

Congrats on the "putting away" of the laundry! I have failed so on that aspect of laundry my whole life. Like Karen said how she didn't like folding...well I have always thought that a machine that washed, dried, and FOLDED all at one time would be the cat's meow! lol
Sleep well, and tomorrow night it will all be right for you and the kids and Maci.

HE WOULD HATE IT HERE :) Just picture him in the midst of senior citizens in a town where the sidewalks all dissappear at dark, and the biggest attraction is the Home Depot! Maybe save this post and use it as a threat whenever he gets difficult to handle. So glad for you that your life is getting back to some semblance of normal. I'll keep praying And the laundry offer still goes Audrey

| You really DO have enough energy for several of us here on forum. I'm so glad he is on the mend and hope that test comes back great today. As far as tomato soup for breakfast.....there IS no time frame in the hospital, so it probably didn't FEEL like breakfast..... As far as Maci, be glad it's just now....I have a stubborn little Pap-pom mix that THINKS she's supposed to use the carpet. Somebody in her past needs to face a firing squad! And like someone said, let her lay on John's laundry and maybe she'll be comforted by that......AND as a good excuse to put off SOME of the laundry for awhile anyway! Stay strong (we know you will) and take care of YOU as well as everyone else. | |

| I too hope the scan went well and he will be home soon. Even if he is a man baby...at least you can do all the running for him at home instead of having to go to the hospital twice a day! At this point, I'm sure he isn't going to be too picky about what you fix him to eat! I don't know about you, but when I'm stressing...things like cleaning, laundry and chipping that ice, keep my mind busy and is therapeutic... | |

| Yes, Kathy, when I was younger, I used to Brillo pad the kitchen floor and do all sorts of weird cleaning when I was upset about something. It somehow made me feel better. Well, the scan came back about the same, but they sent him home anyway (probably an insurance thing) He has antibiotic to take for 10 days, then he will go see the GI Dr. in 14 days. He has to be on a low fiber diet in th emeantime. So good to have him home. Making roast pork and mashed potatoes for dinner tonight. | |
