New Naked Baby Contest Rules

Now that Sharon's wonderful contest is at a close and it was so successful, I thought maybe we could have another naked baby contest but with some different rules. These rules may be modified at any time, so be sure to check this thread often to keep up to date.

1. There will be two categories and you may enter both categories if you wish. There will be an ethnic category and a caucasian category.

2.Babies must be on a solid white or black background and simple blanket.

3. Babies are required to have a white onesie or daygrow or whatever it is your country calls it(I know they are available world wide) and a white cap because we are not doing hair. That's right, this is for skin type and not to be influenced by the best rooter or best hair painter. We can do those contests later, if you want.
*If you cannot get a white short sleeve onesie or white cap, I will sell you one for $2 for onesie and $3 for a cap each plus postage.

4. Zero props. That's right, lets see the baby and not any prop including pillows and nursery blankets.

5. Babies are to remain anonymous until voting ends. That means no showing of baby works in progress or otherwise.

6. Previously painted babies are not eligible to enter.

7. Everybody will use the same kit. Tabatha by Pat Moulton available at Bountiful Baby.

8. Each entry must have the following photos(no larger than 800 px width):
a. Full body shot
b. facial closeup
c. hands and feet detail closeups-make a collage of both hands, both feet tops and bottoms
d. Close up of your favorite part of the doll.(such as eyebrows, lashes, lips, veins, etc)
**If your photos are not acceptable, I will let you know and you can send new ones.

9. Prizes-If anybody would like to donate any prizes for this competition, please PM me for my address if you need it.

10. Deadlines- Last day to enter your photos will be May 31, 2012 at noon central time. That's eight weeks from today.

I like Aylin the best, but I like Tabatha's price better.

Karen, can I just say I LOVE the idea of no hair...I think a lot of times people vote for great hair even though there are other babies with better skin. This will be a naked baby SKIN contest. I also love the idea of us all having the same kit because that is also an influence.

Now having said that, I'm not sure I'll have the money to buy a kit for this contest in order to participate...

Love the idea Karen and thanks for no rooting, I doubt I could do it now I'm working 5 days if they had to e rooted too

Since your giving a couple of weeks for kit choice, then at least 8 weeks before photos are due, I should be able to swing an entry...provided we stay with a fairly inexpensive sculpt like the Tab kit. I would have loved picking Cozy, since I have one. However on BB they have Cozy as soldout in the Gallery.

I can probably donate a couple of small little items to the prize kitty if u want me too Karen? Just let me know?

Michelle. 1 week for voting, Michelle. But yes, 8-12 weeks for actual making, we'll play that by ear as time goes along. Thanks for donating to the prize package, too.

The reason I chose the two of these to choose from is because of two things. I wanted to make sure they both had features that would work well for ethnic and caucasian and availability. Tabatha kit has no fear of selling out unless they put it on a super sale soon.

I am so glad Tabatha is in the lead. I have an unpainted Tabatha right here in my doll room! Now this is incentive to finally get that cute little sleepy baby reborned! Karen, I have a cute crocheted thing (want it to be a surprise)

I am not keen on either kit, which is a shame as
would have loved to enter.

Maxina. I'm sorry you don't like the kits. I do know that Tabatha is a good seller once painted. A lot of people have forgotten about her with all the new kits lately, though

Maybe I won't miss this naked baby contest like I did the others, and I have 1 of the kits already too!!!! I voted for it, of course. Will look and see what I can send for the prize basket.

There will a winner for each category. Prize placements depend on donations received.

Caps are the hardest thing to get out here. Are we allowed a hand knitted one or do you prefer we all have the same type of cap?
Talking plain cap not a fancy patterned one.

Knitted will be fine. The ones I have are knit caps(hospital type).

The way I take it, is they cant be posted anywhere online til after voting ends...since a lot of ladies are also members of many other doll sites & FB friends. But seeing this is Karen's contest I'd double check w/ her, just to make sure.

I got my Tabatha ordered...found some cute reference photos in my library when I had my photo business going. Just have to wait for her to get here now. If anyone needs any photos of babies...I have lots...some I took and some I found while searching online. There are close-ups of all areas.

My Hubby actually bought my Tabby for the contest (which he very rarely does buy me kits ever)...now I'm just waiting on her to come too. Hopefully she'll come today! I always get amp'd up when I know good stuff is coming in the mail! (Instead of the usual rotten bills!)

& Suzzie you should post some of your ref. photos! If I recall correctly there's a specific area just for that purpose here on this forum. I'm sure they'd be very useful for many of us. Plus more ppl. would probably see them in that area too, since that's where I'd look first on this forum if/when I need any. It's very generous of u too be willing to share them BTW!

No. 2 says to use a blanket...but No. 4 says no blanket. Do you want a plain white or black blanket used or am I just reading this wrong? Just want to make sure I follow the rules correctly.

I think it means you can use a blanket as your background, but not as a prop.

I am finished painting. Just have to assemble her and take photos. She is really such a cute kit to do.

At first, I didn't think I liked the Tabatha kit, but painting her and working with the kit has really changed my mind. I think she's a cutie.

Yes, some kits just need to be painted for your opinion to change! Tabatha is a cutie after being painted. I'm so glad you all are enjoying this process!

Since my behind hasn't even started my painting yet

...but she will be done in time. I've got everything I need, so I'm not worrying yet.
