| Look alike, as in the artist and the baby? or any body. Like a celebrity look alike or a character? | |

| It would be cool if you had a picture of a real baby, and then showed the baby that you did as the look a like. I don't thiink it needs to be a celebrity. But, I'm not sure what Sharon was thinking. | |

| Thank you Lara!! That would be awesome!!
I was thinking of "real" babies, as in friends, family, or yourself. I keep seeing pictures of my kids and grand kids as babies and wondering which kit would look the most like them at a particular age. Maybe we could do a celebrity look a like later in the year. That might be fun also!

| I'd love this, (Would they have to be babies, or are toddlers okay?) but unsure how full my plate will be then. I have a HUGE Star Wars sewing commission that will be coming up. | |

| I think baby or toddler would be fine. All depends on how much work you want to do. I've been thinking about this and I know not all of us can (or chose to) sew, but I think part of this contest could be how close not only the baby/toddler is to your picture ... but also the clothing. Some might have the actual clothing item (might be a good time for me to tear apart my garage to see if I really did save the item of clothing in the picture I want to use! LOLOL), and others might be able to recreate the look or hire someone else to recreate it. What do you all think of that idea? | |

| I love that idea, Sharon! Especially if someone has the original outfit/blankets/props. I have a picture of me when I was a baby posed on a quilt that my Grandma made, I have it (somewhere in this house!) and it would be perfect to pose a portrait baby on it to match the picture. | |

| Oooh, this sounds fun, great idea Sharon... my mum's 60th birthday is next year and even though she isn't really into reborns, she has mentioned she would like one.. so I've been thinking about making one for her birthday - it would be even more fun to do a portrait of either her, myself or one of my brothers I better try and get hold of some baby photos somehow if this goes ahead I will send something for a prize too. | |

| So all you fence sitters, let us recap!
Portrait Contest! 1) Pick a picture of you, a family member, friend, etc that you've always thought would be fun to make a copy of. Since the picture is your choice ... so is the kit!!! (Duh, right? hahaha) You are free to chose between preemie, baby, or toddler ... just depends on how much work you wish to do. 2) The judging for the contest will be based on how well you "copied" the original photo. And of course you'll have to post the original for comparison! While props and such will help to achieve the whole picture, I think we'll try to focus on the baby/toddler itself and what it's wearing. 3) Contest deadline will be sometime in February so as to give us all breathing space after Christmas! (Lord knows I always need it!) 4) Hiring out the task of recreating the clothing is totally acceptable, as long as only you and the seamstress you chose see the project. Plenty of time after the contest to give kudos to your co-conspirator! LOL 5) More rules or ideas as the suggestions and questions come up!
What about hair? Any discussion on the pros and cons of rooted, painted, or wigged (for those maybe doing a toddler)? I don't necessarily want to do 3 categories so we'd need to agree before hand what's expected for everyone.

| I think wigs should be acceptable, since toddlers are...and there's a time limit! Would just one category work since we're focusing mainly on the job of matching the original picture to the finished reborn rather than who is the best rooter, etc...? | |

| Hopefully will be able to do the next one but Im snowed under at the moment with two custom orders and two others Im getting ready for selling. I wish I knew how to root quicker!!! When I can I am really going to buckle down and learn how to paint hair properly, this would at least make a change from rooting all the time. | |

| I won't be doing this as I don't reborn. but to me a date mid January for those who are doing it sounds an idea to me.
I think everyone should know by then whether they can get their babies done by end of February.......
BEST OF LUCK to EVERYONE< I will be holding my breth for the finished little one.

The reason I was asking is I'm working on two potrait babies right now, but I had posted on here and DF sking for help picking the kits.. Would I still be able to enter those ones if I don't post any WIP's? If not I love doing potrait babies anyway so I can find another to do, but it would be nice if I didn't have to Thanks xx

| What if the "go to" person just reposted the pictures for someone that was asking for help matching the kits, so everyone could help find the best match, but only the "go to" person would know who it was that was doing the asking? | |

In that case, someone who wasn't going to enter the contest (like Becky!) would be perfect for being the "go to" person and we'd have the knowledge and idea base of the entire group.
