| I got mine from eBay for about $50. I do know you'll want dual action. That helps control the air flow, I believe. The air brush is mostly used for washes and flesh tones and provides a nice even application.
This is the one I got. http://www.ebay.com/itm/220890026821?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_2505wt_942

| Hi all, I have done some air brushing and can't wait for the class , it is layers of thin paint just like the reborning I have been reading about. I looked at your air brush Karen I think you will be supprised at how fine a line you can make, I'll bet you can make eye lashes with it! I am wondering will we be using the Genesis paints thined or somthing else? Honey.... | |

| I got mine on Ebay for about $65. They are not that expensive, and really, a great investment for your business. Even if you don't use it for the whole doll, they work great for making even neutralizing and skintones bases, and vert easy to make AA babies as well. You do use more paint, so our mixes will be waaaay different then what you are used to, but it's super easy. | |

Thanks, Lyn...that would be great. The sooner the better. 1 mod for every 5 people signed up is usually good. And I do ask that the mods play around with the airbrush and know what they're doing before I post the mod lessons. Since I should be getting my Victoria kit soon, I have no problem writing the lessons for this early and getting them out to the mods, so you all have time to play and get the hang of mixing the paint and all for the airbrush. You will go through a lot more paint!

| I am wondering what are the pros and cons to using an airbrush? I see that 1 con is that it uses a lot more paint, but can someone give some more details about how it will help make better babies before I decide whether or not to buy an air brush?
Thanks!!!

PamelaG (PRECIOUS LUVS) Definitely is very quick. And it works great for darker skintones, as well. You don't get that blotchiness that you sometimes see in the darker tones. Did anyone see that blue avatar baby? That was done with an airbrush. It had extremely even skintones for such a deep blue. I'm sure she did many layers to achieve the depth of blue, but it was very clean and even looking.

| I used my sprayer in the kitchen by the sink with no mask on and nothing got decorated by what I was spraying.
As far as the tip goes, the little machine I got has its own tip and it works just fine.

| I'm VERY interested as I just bought a new airbrush set and my hubby (God Love him) wanted me to upgrade to a bigger set - so I have 4 airbrushes, a dozen or more jars, compressor and who knows what all. I put it all in a shopping bag in my pantry - just waiting to try it.
Well we did try it with plain water to test the compressor and it did spray a narrow path, but I'll be wearing an apron and maybe a mask.
I have another Victoria for this. I didn't have any problem with the first Victoria I painted, but what the heck I'm taking the class.
Will there be videos for this?
When you use oil paint in a airbrush you need to clean it throughly after you are done or it will destroy the washers (I think if you wait more than a week then you need to do the cleaning.). My kit didn't come with any instructions about that but I did find some utube videos about it (can't find my notes or links right now, but I'll keep looking).
Below is a link to some discussion about airbrushing, on here, last May. Since then I got more equipment and yep I have dual action now.

| The only thing I did was to take a small brush and make sure any cracks or crevices were clear of paint. You can open the nut to get a wider or narrower spray, too. | |

Lyndie, dont forget DD may (and probably will) come out with more kits in the soft vinyl before class starts, so I'm hoping for more choice options then just Victoria.

| Hi all when I was learning to use my air brush, I did all my work on card bord or heavy paper using water , it saved paint and clean up! when you do dot and dager (long line) strokes heavy paper works best so you can see the shape and angle of your stroke. hope this tip helps.... | |

| I'm so thrilled about trying the soft vinyl. I just can't contain my excitement! And I'm really considering taking the class. I'd have to buy an airbrush, and I'm curious, should I get one with a separate canister or one with the little metal cup attached to the gun? I imagine it gets pretty annoying to have to keep refilling the cup, and it would be easier having a larger batch contained in the canister. I guess it really depends on the consistency of the paint mixture and the amount of it we will be using. I'd also be interested in using the airbrush for AA babies. Anyone have any experience with this and can offer some advice before I purchase? Thanks! | |

| Hubby took me to Harbor Freight and Tool to get my gun (I already had a little 2 gallon tank aircompressor) and it was only $14.00. It is the top feed/dual action gun. I have been playing around with it quite a bit lately and really enjoy it. You are right Lara, it does make doing the AA babies SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier!!! I just started working on Little Champ by LTR and I think I only have 2, maybe 3, coats of paint on the caucasian kit and I am just about to the base coloring I wanted. I have a couple of shows this weekend to do but am hoping to get back to it next week. When I get to the color I am happy with I will post pics so you all can see. I also did the base flesh coat on my Victoria with my airbrush and LOVED IT!!!! The consistency is to nice. I did notice that because I do all my airbrushing in my garage I have to make sure that all the paint and parts are room temp or you tend to not get the flash off of the thinner as nicely as when they are room temp. And the paint tends to run a little if it is chilly. I did try to pounce out a couple of spots where the paint ran and it does take off the paint instead of blending it if you do it while it is wet. I did wait for it to flash off more and try (I was curious to see if that would work and I was playing with a test piece - lol) and it worked better that way. Hope this info helped. Lara, I can not wait for the class!!!!! | |

Not yet, but we will post it soon. Keep in mind that you will use about 2-3 times as much paint as you normally do. A cloth face mask and an apron would be a good idea as well. This is a good airbrush. You just need something simple. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-AIRBRUSH-KIT-COMPRESSOR-NAIL-ART-TATTOO-DUAL-ACTION-SPRAY-AIR-BRUSH-GUN-SET-/220890026821?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336e125345

If I use the GHSP with the air brush, that means I have to heat the paint to cure it, right? I can not use the Victoria kit, the fumes are like posion to me. I get headaches & nose bleeds when I heat the Victoria kit.....

Have you used GHSP on any kit since? No reaction? You can use any kit you want, its just that the LDC soft line is the class contest kit. You can also use air dry paints for the class but mixing the colors to get to the GHSP colors are up to you.

| I agree with Karen, it has to be what ever make the vinyl softer than most..... I will stay away from them for a while & I really hate that, I love the new line. If more kits change to that kind of vinyl I will have to learn air dry. I'd be lost if I couldn't make reborns | |
