| We took caden to his pediatrician check up yesterday and came home with unexpected news. His pediatrician is sending him to a nuerologist because she said she is concerned about his development. He just turned 9 months and doesn't know how to sit by himself yet. She said at his age he should be an expert sitter. She said that's a milestone he has to reach and at 9 months he should be pulling himself up to stand and his legs don't seem that strong. Caden also hasn't been wanting to eat babyfood or even homemade food. when I make him homemade food like mashed potatoes or MAC n cheese he gags. She said babies with nueroligical problems have this problem. He also doesn't know how to pick things up with his finger and uses his whole hand. She said he is delayed.
So now I am worried. I just thought he would learn it on his own time and didn't worry about those things. As of right now, we just have to take into consideration that something may be wrong and go see a nuerologist and see what they say. Hopefully he's fine :) | |

| I know hearing news like this can be so scarey! I faced these kind of situations with my 2 youngest only it was me insisting to the dr's something was wrong and it took me forever to get the to realize I was right. Saldy it meant some lasting effects that my girls struggle with now that I think would not be an issue had the drs just listened in the beginning! anyway, dont work yourself up, dont stress and try not to worry.( I know, easier said than done right) My oldest was very delayed and she had similar issues but no problems. She didnt crawl till almost 11 months, didnt walk till 16 months, ate only a certain baby food till she was almost 3, Just pray and dont worry your self! It will probably turn out to be nothing or something very minor....my oldest just needed some extra encouragement to reach her milestones....but i can say to this day, at 16(she will be 17 in july) has always had her own time table and does things at her pace. She doenst have a drivers license or permit, doesnt really date, even though she has a steady serious boyfriend, she just has her own pace, and SLOW is the general speed! lol
I will keep him in my prayers and please keep us posted, I know your scared and worried so feel free to vent and relieve stress here anytime!! |

| Of course I'll pray for Caden. But, also, I want you to know that babies do things on their own time. He was large at birth. He's a lot bigger and heavier than most babies his age. Maybe he's just not strong enough to hold up his own weight. Going to the neurologist is a way of ruling things out. I'll keep you all in my prayers that nothing serious is wrong. Oh and here's a for you! | |

| A frightening situation, but not to big for our God. I will be praying for your little one. To say not to worry to you is to much to ask, but if you could try to be hopeful and know God knows and is in control. Whatever the outcome He will help you. | |

| I will pray for him but like others have said kids do things sometimes in their own sweet time. I pray nothing is wrong other than he is just not ready yet. | |

| It must be pretty frightening hearing that about your son. But, like has been said already, kids learn on their own time. A lot of my brother's kids didn't know how to stand up until they were about 12 months and it took quite a while for them to learned to walk. Having said that, you also sort of need to push your son to learn new things. I always sat my kids up -propping them with their hands on their knees with a Boppy pillow around them/behind them so they could start to get the feel of sitting up and start working those muscles that need to be worked to achieve sitting up. With practice, they learn it. I also encouraged them to stand on their feet while holding something. Sometimes they'd cling to the couch or chair too afraid to move, but over time, they'd gain the confidence to venture out. Then, they'd start pulling themselves up and cruising on their own. One of my kids, my daughter I think, did the gagging thing too. I think it was just her reaction to trying something new. If I tried to give her a food and she'd gag on it, I'd try something else, she eventually grew out of it. Your son will be fine, he has your love and encouragement! | |

| I will be praying for him too... my two were very slow to do physical things.. Emily walked at 1 & 1/2 and now my son has just started walking and he is 1 & 1/2 this week... he only started pulling himself to walk around the table a month ago... they both didn't crawl until they were 12months. I was extremely worried with Emily because all of the other babies were doing things and she wasn't.. but she did it in the end and is fine now. So I knew not to worry with Taylor, that he would get there in the end. Big hugs to you and Caden | |

| Will be praying for you all. Everyone is right. Every baby is different. I know my girls hated anything lumpy at first and I would have to pouree it so much you could drink it at first lol.
My girls were all different with development too. Georgia was walking at 9 months, even though so was so chubby lol but Jaimee and Kiara didn't walk until they were 12 months. My sister's boys didn't walk until they were 18 months old and took much longer to reach their milestones.

| all 3 of mine were different in reaching their milesotnes too, my middle one only walked at 17 months out of desperation when I could not pick him up as I was confined to bed rest with 3rd pregnancy. His attitude was if someone can do it for him why should he, but all have excelled in other areas. Also my first had a birth deformity and I learnt to allow the kids to develop at their own pace. I will be keeping you in my thoughts that it is nothing major but know also that being a mum, no matter what you find the strength to face it. I always saw others worse off than my own when we had checkups with the orthopeadic specialist at the children's hospital. It is like an inner strength we possess but do not tap into unless required to do so. Yes you will and do worry about they problems but you also find that inner strength to cope no matter what. Dad's on the other hand can be a whole different ball game. Well mine (now ex) was anyway. I hope all is better than they are suspecting. | |
