PostSubject: Newbie from oz   Newbie from oz EmptyFri 2 Dec 2011 - 6:58

Hi Everyone,

My name is Maree. I've reasonably new to the world of reborns. I stumbled across reborns after watching a documentary called Taboo ~ people who fall in love with objects. They showed several women cuddling these reborn dolls and I fell for it hook line and sinker.

Hubby suggested adopting one since we're unable to have kids. This was back in September and now I have two preemie Twins names Ronald and Isabella plus my big girl Lucy.

After a few months of collecting and searching ebay & youtube for numerous hrs I've decided to take the plunge and take a reborn course.

I'm a little nervous but excited as well. Not sure how I will go as I suffer with essential tremors in the hands but a lovely artist in the local area is offering me lessons and support so I figure why not give it a go.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone in the forum.

x Maree x

Hey Lyn I stumbled across the forum when searching for reborn nursery names. (eyeroll probably too soon but ideas are ticking over in this old head of mine)

Looking forward to our classes Lyn. Don't know how I'll go but we'll give it a try right :)

I'll most likely have a look at Lara's online classes too.

:real: Maree...glad you joined us. If your hands tremble too much, you can probably trade painting for rooting skills. In other words, you may do very well with rooting and not paint so well because of the tremors and I know there are a lot of people who paint very well but struggle with rooting so it could work out for you to trade skills with someone. bigsmile

Thanks for the lovely welcomes ladies. Sorry I hadn't been back on but, I've now had my first lesson with Lyn and it went very well.

I'm working on Niklas by Birgit Friedrich-Gutzwiller. My little Logan is coming along very well with Lyns help. The veining was the part that I had trouble with as my hands wouldn't stop the trembles but hubby things I did a good job.

Looking forward to the next lesson with Lyn. But she's left me with homework of practicing hair rooting. I know most of you ladies don't like that part so it will be interesting to see how I go with that.

Yes I am interested in what the poor old test head looks like after being attacked for a 3rd time.......... lol. I keep pulling the hair out of it and passing it on. It might soon have to be retired.
You were a good pupil, and I am glad you found it easier than you thought it would be.

Congrats Maree! That's fantastic that your baby is coming along well and you are now having a go at rooting. It's really not that bad when you get used to it lol wink
