| I'm Kathy, mom to three grown children, grandmother to two, and I love reborns! I have bought two, and am now attempting to reborn my first kit. I want to learn how to do it so I can make them for myself, and save money on buying them, not to sell. :) I have been drawing portraits for years, so thought it would be fun to try to do a kit. Are there any other reborn collectors in Alabama? I'd love to know more about the online classes. | |

| Hi Kathy, to the forum, I love it here! The classes are fantastic!! I would highly recommend them, my babies have improved sooo much since I found Lara's classes. Here's a link to her website page with some info about them. http://realreborn.net/classes.html Lara is also holding a workshop in Langston Alabama in October, so this may be something that you might be able to get to, here is the info.. http://realreborn.net/workshops.html Enjoy looking around and if you have any questions, there is always someone on here who can try and help | |

| I'm in Decatur, AL, north Alabama not too far from Huntsville. I looked at the ebooks. Which one would a beginner start with? They all look like they would have a lot of good info, so not sure where to start. :) Kathy | |

Kathy Which kit are you looking to start with? That'll help determine which eBook you should start with. And yes, you should absolutely go to the workshop in Langston in October!

| I am starting with the Sam kit by Marissa May in peach. I'm sitting here looking at the kit, paints, etc on the table and feeling very intimidated. I bought the Genesis paints, an oven timer, etc. I also bought some extra practice limbs, just to try out different techniques before putting them on the actual kit. I never felt this intimidated facing a blank sheet of drawing paper. ha. Since I'm planning to keep this one and not sell anyway, I shouldn't be so scared. Were you all like this with your first reborn? I sent an contact form asking about the Langston workshop. I'd like to do just the painting one, but would not need to stay overnight, as it's not that far of a drive for me, so I could just come home. I hope I can work that out. | |

| Then I would suggest starting with the Strawberries and Cream eBook but in the neutralizing step, instead of the earth mint or green wash, I'd do more of a teal color wash. That's the color I use to neutralize BB kits. Be sure to add sales@realreborn.net to your email address book so you get the download link email. If you have any problems, just holler.

I had my kit and supplies for 6 months before I would touch it. I did, however, practice on my Beruenger head I had to practice with, but even then, I was still so very scared of touching the real kit. I didn't quite understand that anything you do to the baby CAN be undone and I was afraid of messing it up forever. So remember that, anything you do can be fixed or corrected and just have fun!

| Well I started and did my skin layers, veining (that turned out great!) and then I tried the mottling. The first layer of it was too thin and didn't really make any difference. I baked it and tried again. This time I got great legs and arms but the top of my head looks like chicken pox. ha. I thought maybe it would lighten up when it was baked, but it still looks spotty. Maybe I can tone it down some with another skin layer?? I'm stumped. But this is so fun! | |

| Tone it down with a earth mint type of wash. Glad you took the plunge! | |

| Hi Kathy. You will get a lot of wonderful help, hints, tips and support here. It is much better to do several thin layers allowing them to dry inbetween rather than a thick coat and baking. I usually do 2-4 thin coats then bake (especially with the flesh, mottling and blushing layers). Can't wait to see your baby (also your collection). Welcome! | |
