Reborner Dad from Canada Empty
PostSubject: Reborner Dad from Canada   Reborner Dad from Canada EmptyTue 17 Apr 2012 - 3:08

Hello RealReborn!
I am just learning about reborning. I been watching videos all day (My eyes hurt).
I'm kinda scared, my first day into it & I have already spent $400.

I ordered Camille by Anne Timmerman. I have been an artist, working
with acrylics on canvas for 25 years (I'm 52). I'm really excited to have found a new outlet
for my creativity.

Regards
Maurice

A warm welcome Maurice, you will find all the help you need on this forum, the ladies
are more than willing to share their knowledge.

Its is an expensive and very addictive hobby, but such fun. Look forward to seeing

Welcome, Maurice!! I'd say you are the first man to join our forum, but that wouldn't be true. Last year a couple joined under one name, although they both reborn, the man felt shy so didn't say much at all. I hope you aren't the shy sort! This is a great place to learn the craft. Are you going to stick with acrylics or give the heat set a try? Either way, you'll see the handling of the paint is much different than canvas. Lara is teaching a live workshop in Canada in September. You should try to attend it, if possible. Yes, this is a very expensive hobby. Gives a whole new meaning to starving artist! lol

Again, Maurice, :real:

Welcome Maurice,
I think you will really enjoy using your talents and skills in acrylics
and applying them to this new "canvas" of the reborn.

Have you every tried Genesis heat set paints?
I think you will love them.

Hi Lisa,
That is exactly how I am thinking of these dolls - as a 3D canvas.
It's funny, about 15 years ago I found 3 really cute dolls in an old variety store in Toronto.
They were cute pudgy things each with a unique expression. I just had to buy them.

I painted one, so with out knowing - I 'reborned' her. :-)

To start my new babies I ordered Authentic Reborn paints.

Thanx for the welcome. Lisa

Maurice

Hi maurice,
Authentic Reborn paints are Genesis Heat Set Oils mixed with thinning medium. I sometimes use them to do lips and creases but I prefer mixing my own paints for everything else.

The beautiful doll eBook is great, but sometimes it helps to have little videos of what Lara means by a brush and etc so I actually do recommend the Strawberries and Cream eBook for those just starting with Lara's classes and eBooks. bigsmile
