LABOR STARTED...CONTRACTIONS 2 MIN APART!!!!PIX ADDED!!

FINALLY!
MeowMeow is in real labor! She is 10 days per calculations late! She has been following me around for the last 24 hours meowing at me. So I figured something was up. Today she is beginning to push slighty and makes a noise every 2 1/2 min.!
Although this is the start of the AI class, apparently I am either going to have start later, or try to do it here in the office at my puter desk. She has decided to have them in the cubbyhole where my feet and legs go.....argh!!!! She wants my foot near her head all the time. After a contraction she nuzzles it.
So....taking reservations now......anyone want a kitty who is used to reborning?
We will be accepting adoption applications shortly!

Well, since we already have 3 cats I guess I have to pass on the kitten offer! But they are so darned sweet! Best of luck to Mom and the class will just have to wait on nature to complete it's present assignment.

Number 2 has arrived. Darker than 1 still with lots of white "trim". This one is as loud as Mama! LOL

babies ......whoohoo........good luck........we just went thru that in jan ........now have 5 8 week old doxies.........sage.....

#3 arrived at around 4. #2 still had placenta and cord attached and had managed to wrap it around mama's back leg a coupleof times. So she was distracted by trying to disentangle her hyperactive second baby when #3 popped out. After 2 min of her not trying or paying attention to the sacque I broke it like the vet had told me to do. She still didn't pay any attention so I stimed it with a washcloth etc. and it too was in insearch of lunch. Apparently these 3 have signed up for good full ninnies and they were on a hunt to collect! LOL So we so far have 3 kittens, two with intact cords and placentas who are chowing down. Mama is sound asleep! If I try to get up from puter to leave room she meows me loudly to come back....she is going to have to give it a rest for a minute because I have to go use my "box"! LOL
I will take some pix after she cleans up the mess.....trust me it is not "pretty".
I think she may still have one left......will give her a couple of more hours.

Joy, I had to deliver all ten kittens that two of my wayward girls had a day apart. They showed no interest in cleaning them. So I did as you did with a washcloth. Once I would get them stimulated, the moms would then lick them. It is wierd how they ignored the kittens still in the sac like that. They both turned out to be attentive mommies but I always wonder what would have happened if I hadn`t intervened and torn open the sac for them.

Vet said if longer than 3 min with intact sacque then babies will die from suffocation. That is why I interferred.
Tom says good lord now he is married to a cat midwife! MeowMeow and I just stared him out of the office room! LOL
Everything seems calm now. But no cleanup started. Babies are content and holding on to ninnies for dear life! lol

Joy....as a toy poodle midwife....LOL you might have to tie off the cords, with a piece of dental floss, real close to tummy and cut it. Sometimes first time mommas...don't really know what to do, and even the following litters too aometimes. Good luck with them babies :)

I must have had it easy, my daughters cat had 7 litters before I finally managed to save enough to have her desexed (and she not be pregnant when I did). She never neglected one kitten in all those deliveries. The only kittens we lost too were the litter the malamute got to when she escaped the back yard and went into the front where the litter was. The mother pined and searched for those missing kittens for days but all the while never neglected the one we managed to save. For some reason mum decided this litter was going to be delivered on the front porch so we made her a bed out there.

I too would love to say yes Joy but I don't think I could handle customs and quarantine either. Besides I have a kitty at present who is 5 months old. He is going for his desexing in 2 weeks time.

Congratulations to mama! I would love to have a cat/kitten, but I am away so much at certain times that it would not be fair to have a pet.

Oh my goodness how precious!!!! Yay for you and MeowMeow! I can't wait to see those little ones I already have two and live too far so I won't be able to adopt But congrats! Hope new mama is doing alright.

LOL, Linda that is a sweet story!! When my son was 13 or 14, our Shepherd/Husky had puppies when we weren't home. When we came back and had a look, there were 9 healthy ones and one that seemed dead...it was not a March like this one LOL....there was snow Momma dog was in the dog run, since her pups weren't due for another week or so, and as a Husky she loved being outside. Chris forgot that he was a teenaged male, and starts to cry about the dead puppy. I felt badly, and did the only thing I could think of...I put it on a baking sheet in a towel, and put the oven on at the lowest possible temp. with the door ajar.....no wonder I took to reborning LOL...and it worked like a charm. Puppy took some breaths, whined a bit, I gave him back to Sheba, and Domino grew to be a lovely dog!!!

I love breeding and raising pups, to go out to new homes and adventures. I bred Labs for several years for the Paws for the cause in Michigan. It was very hard to give them all up.LOL....but I know where most of them are at, and some have left state. I had 8 litters of them. I have two toy poodles myself, and was going to give Abby a break, and then stud her out next heet, to a white male from the same breeder we got max from. Both of them are from champion bloodlines, and make very sound and healthy puppies....up to one fault. Every pup she has had so far.....have been Black/blue/or silver LOL. I would like to see more red, or parti color from them, as there are a lot of people looking for the apricot/red or partis for show ring magic :)

Cant wait to see pics! I love it when we have pups or kittens...but no more at our house!

We just net back!
While we were midwifing kitties apparently an F3-4 tornado went over and touched down in Dexter the next little town over (East) from us. Three friends have lost or damaged houses. A funny aside here....Patrick our youngest came over today to borrow a tool and he asked if I had seen the totled house with the blue and green walls in the upstairs. I said of course, and he started to laugh....he had done the painting in that house! I suggested that would make a really good commercial....our painting will stand up to tornadoes and come out unscathed! LOL He said he would think about it! LOL

Ok......kitty update:

We have 3 little ones. Very very healthy, eat all the time. MeowMeow got rested up and cleaned up afterbirth as she is supposed to about 8 last night. In the meantime I think the babies had doubled their size! All they have done is eat, eat, eat!

I can tell you now if I was to take one the light dark would be my pick, she is a very pretty little one, yep I know it is a she as torties are always female, otherwise they are infertile if a male (and very very rare).

Good afternoon all the kitty aunties!

Meow wants me to tell you that her human mama was right.....at least whn they were inside they were quiet and you knew where they were!

MeowMeow got up last night about 9 and left the babies for a little bit. She went to the box, then came out to the living room and demanded to be held and petted. In the middle of the adoration time a kitten way down the hall made a little squeal and I am serious here, Meow looked up at my husband and made a funny little noise like...oh no.....quickly jumped down and ran to the cubbyhole. It was the larger dark one who is the loudest and the busiest and the most adventurous and I am sure without looking is a boy. He spends most of his time captured between Meow's front paws!

She has turned out to be a wonderful mama. She hardly ever stops purring and it is so nice to see her so happy. When she finally wandered into the house she was nearly dead. Could not even make a credible noise. THAT IS NOT THE CASE NOW! Barbara from Toronto can attest to her lung power! You would never know she had been a feral cat.

Ok that is Day 2's update....everyone is doing well, mama is eating well and she has cleaned everyone up.
