PostSubject: I'm new here too   I'm new here too EmptySat 20 Oct 2012 - 12:06

Good Morning ~ I am a photographer & I was using either my little dog or a cabbage patch doll as a model... I decided I needed something more realistic... LOL... This is when I discovered these beautiful little babies... I have been doing a little research to see what all is involved... I would really like to jump in & get started, just not sure where to start... Is is best to buy a kit or individually??? Are the sleeping babies easier to start with as opposed to one that have eyes... So many questions... I'm really excited to learn everything & to get to know everyone here...

Have a great day...

Hi cindy Joy and welcome to REAL. In my eBook, Begin 2 Reborn, I show how its actually cheaper to purchase things individually that you will actually use versus buying a starter package from Bountiful Baby. I list all of the supplies you will need to paint your first baby and where the cheapest places to buy them are. You can get many things from Dollar Tree, Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Michael's, etc.

You can see the baby I use as a sample in my signature picture and the link to purchase the eBook is right above it.

Hi Karen ~ I just bought your book & am anxious to read it... So I am probably getting ahead of myself... Do I just need to basically buy the baby parts & then I can get the other items like you mentioned at the other stores???

Are the babies with eyes any harder to do than the babies that are sleeping???

I will have to start reading now... My cousin said she would buy my first baby for my birthday... I just love her to pieces!!!

Thanks for you help... I'm sure I will be back for much more!!! LOL...

Hi Cindy Joy,
The introduction of the book tells you what's cheaper where and how to buy things from places so they are cheaper in the long run. It imparts knowledge that I had to learn the hard way like falling into the Bountiful Baby trap of purchasing a Complete Reborning Kit(because its not really complete and half the crap in the basket won't or shouldn't be used lol).

I think its great of your cousin to purchase the first one for you for your birthday. That's how I started, too, by money that was a birthday gift.

So how long does it take to receive the book??? I ordered it last night... Is it a downloadable book that I can print or will it appear on my kindle??? I'm really anxious to start reading up on the little darlings... I think I will call mine "Little Bundles of Joy"... My photography is Joy photography & then I can tie the two in together...

happyhappy Hi Cindy Joy, this is a great forum for learning and chatting about reborning. Here are some links to my favorite online stores, http://www.dollsbysandie.com/ http://www.bountifulbaby.com/ https://dolldreams.3dcartstores.com/ http://hunnybunsrebornsupply.com/ That is just a few that I have come to depend on for excellent service. bigsmile welcome EDITED------Sorry, it looks as though those links are somehow disabled, so if you google those places by copying and pasting them, you can check them out. :bigsmile:Edited again, the links are working (thanks Julita!)

Welcome Cindy Joy! You are sure to find a lot of useful information here! SweetiePieNursery also has an ebook that is great for beginners! It's one of my favorites and only $10! You should be able to google SweetiePieNursery and find her!
I am quite new to this too... The best site to buy kits to start out on is BB! They are VERY reasonable compared to others! And they have the best prices on paints. But, I have found that they don't have all the colors that you will need. I buy the other colors that I need from Hunnybuns (I think Barb posted a link for her already) and I buy my maxines mops from her too! She has buy 3 mops get one free deals! Don't waste your money on other brushes either. Maxines mops are the way to go!!!

OK. That's about all I have... lol

Looking forward to seeing your babies in the future!!!

Hi and :real: Everyone here is so amazingly friendly!

I am new too, both to this forum and to reborning, it will be great to learn together with other newbies and learn from these oh so experienced and talented ladies.

I found DVDs really useful as I could pause and work along at my own pace. I bought Jayne Seddon's DVD from Tinkerbell Nursery, she is awesome and I recently discovered that Cheryl Van Pletzen from Cheza Baby Nursery also used it to teach herself and thought "if its good enough for her" lol.

I look forward to getting to know you and seeing your babies.
